Finding of language spoken

<<365453006 |Finding of language spoken (finding)|

  • What principles do different countries have for which concepts that are selected for translation? Are their choices based purely on certain hierarchies, or are there ways to choose only certain “relevant” concepts from selected hierarchies? On what principles do they base the assessment of what is “relevant”? (If it is the principle of “users’ needs” – how do they know these?)
  • How do different countries extract relevant concepts for translation practically/technically? What processes or scripts are they using? Would there be something that someone would like to share?

Substance abuse/misuse

https://jira.ihtsdotools.org/browse/SCTF-61 (continuation)

The 66214007 |Substance abuse (disorder)| subhiearchy was refurbished in the October 2024 International Release in order to make the content in alignment with DSM-5 and ICD-11 with concepts such as Harmful pattern of substance use, Episode of harmful substance use, etc. This change is very appreciated at our NRC.

However, there are still two finding subhiarchies which still cause troubles in translation:

<< 228366006 |Finding relating to drug misuse behavior (finding)|

<<361055000 |Misuses drugs (finding)|

With the changes in the disorder hierarchy, we struggle to see the difference between concepts.

Of specific substances, we find triplet concepts such as 429782000 |Cocaine misuse (finding)|, 733461000 |Cocaine user (finding)| and 78267003 |Harmful pattern of use of cocaine (disorder)| from the three subhierarchies, respectively. (Some other substances, we find only in two of the subhierarhies).
