Hi all, I am looking for further information on 'role relationship pattern'. The terminologist working on this is looking to expand on the information she has now- that it relates to role engagements and relationships. From what we can see it is from Marjory Gordon's Functional Health Patterns. There is mention of it underlying the Taxonomy II of NANDA Nursing Diagnosis classification but I can't confirm that. Is anyone able to add any further detail? Noreen Frisch did you have any information?

Hi Cathy,
The NANDA book defines Role Relationship as "The negative and positive connections or associations between people or groups of people and the means by which those connections are demonstrated." Role Relationship is one of the Nursing Diagnosis Domains. Classes under this domain include Caregiver roles, Family relationships and Role performance (e.g. social interactions)

I believe that Christine's response provides the definition as used in nursing - NANDA-I particularly. Since the NCRG will discuss in March, it might be helpful for us to know the context in which the Mental Health and Behavioural CRG approached this issue. I'm thinking we might be able to have a more fulsome discussion if we understood the work of the MN-Behavioural group.

Thank you for looking at this. This came out of a content change request from the MABH CRG in relation to 118193001 |Role-related finding (finding)| to add the interprets value 405073004 |Role performance behavior (observable entity)|. The requester noticed the concept 106024000 |Finding of role relationship pattern (finding)| when looking for other content that could potentially have the same interprets value but did not understand the concept. I don't think the group will be suggesting any changes to this concept or subtypes modelling at this time but with a definition this can be noted and if changes are later suggested to improve the modelling of this hierarchy this could be done with the nursing group.
