Rules for generating descriptions:

  1. Apply General rules for generating descriptions for templates;
  2. Apply Enhancements for the Template Language;
  3. If the direct site of the angiography is specified as an artery rather than a blood vessel, an additional description should be added SYN: [Imaging] arteriography of [body structure] with [substance], should be added as acceptable in both US/GB and case significance should be ci.
  4. If the direct site of the angiography is specified as an vein rather than a blood vessel, an additional description should be added SYN: [Imaging] venography of [body structure] with [substance], should be added as acceptable in both US/GB and case significance should be ci.
  5. For magnetic resonance imaging angiography, the naming should be FSN: Magnetic resonance angiography of [body structure] with [substance] (procedure), PT: Magnetic resonance angiography of [body structure] with [substance], SYN: MR angiography of [body structure] with [substance] - This SYN should us case significance CS.
  6. For computed tomography angiography, the naming should be FSN: Computed tomography angiography of [body structure] with [substance] (procedure), PT: CT angiography of [body structure] with [substance] - This PT should use case significance CS, SYN: Computed tomography angiography of [body structure] with [substance].
  7. For fluoroscopic angiography, the naming should be FSN: Fluoroscopic angiography of [body structure] with [substance] (procedure), PT: Fluoroscopic angiography of [body structure] with [substance].

  1. Yongsheng GaoCould you review this template for me please? It's worth me pointing out that the template only aligns to roughly 50% of << 77343006 |Angiography (procedure)|. I discussed this with Monica and as the use of this template is more likely to be for diagnostic angiograms rather than procedures which happen to use imaging of blood vessels for guidance determined we didn't need an additional role group to include a higher %.
    Thanks!

    1. Mark Banks, I have restricted domain further to exclude imaging guided procedures. As a result, the number of misaligned concepts is reduced from 746 to 285 concepts. The setting of 'complex case = false' in the query reduced the number to 60 concepts.  The optional attribute for 'direct device' could be added to reduce the misalignments further.

      The use of contrast media is always needed for 'x-ray' based imaging modalities, e.g. CT angiography, fluoroscopic angiography. They are different from the other imaging modalities that the contrast media is optional. We do not have a rule language to specify this. The option is to create a separate template for X-ray based angiography. So we can refine the range for method in this template.

      I have also added the venography in the description rule. We might need to note that procedure using isotope should not follow the description patterns.

      Cheers,

      Yong

      1. Hi Yongsheng Gao, I've finally got around to creating that additional template for the radiographic angiographies. I'll tag you in that for review but here's the link too Radiographic angiography (procedure) - v1.0

        1. Cheers, approved for implementation.
