Rules for description generation:

  1. Apply General rules for generating descriptions for templates;
  2. Apply Enhancements for the Template Language;
  3. If method = CT - action, descriptions should be CT for Preferred term with CS (case sensitive) as value for the case significance or Computed tomography for a synonym; if method = MRI -action, descriptions should be MRI for Preferred term with CS (case sensitive) for the case significance or Magnetic resonance imaging for synonym

  1. Yongsheng Gao Jim CaseCould we combine the templates for CT guided procedure of body structure with CT guided procedure of morphology of body structure by adding an optional Attribute=Associated morphology in RG 2 above?

  2. ASSOCIATED MORPHOLOGY is not an approved attribute for the procedure model.  However, if the morphology that is being targeted is a subtype of "Acquired body structure" then it would be a legal concept to use.

    If you are looking to add PROCEDURE MORPHOLOGY (attribute) to the second RG, then that would be OK and would give a more generic template which would cover both and probably allow us to get rid of the CT specific templates.  We might even consider adding the optional USING SUBSTANCE in the first RG to cover the CT and MRI with contrast templates, thus eliminating more separate templates. So, bottom line is that we could combine the following templates into one:

    [CT/MRI] guided [procedure] of [body structure] - In progress
    [CT/MRI] guided [procedure] of [morphology] of [body structure] (procedure) - In progress
    Computed tomography of [body structure] (procedure) - In PROD
    CT guided [procedure] of [body structure]
    CT guided [procedure] of [body structure] - In PROD
    CT guided [procedure] of [body structure] with [contrast] v2
    MRI of [body structure] - In PROD
    MRI of [body structure] with [contrast] v2.0
    Ultrasonography of [body structure] - In PROD

    Doppler ultrasonography of [body structure] - Ready for implementation
    Ultrasonography guided [procedure] of [body structure]

    1. Hi, I have made some changes to include morphology in the second role group. We could generalise this template further for all imaging-guided procedures. The rules for generating descriptions needs to be enhanced.

  3. Jim Case Yes, Procedure Morphology was what I meant to say. Adding as optional 260507000 |Access (attribute)|= < 309795001 |Surgical access values (qualifier value)|

  4. Yongsheng Gao Jim Caseto capture the drainage/aspiration aspect, suggest we need to add the following optional attribute value pair:

    Direct substance = substance (substance)

    1. Thanks Monica Harry, I made some further changes and added template language. The default value for an attribute is specified in the template according to the WIP spec at 5.1. DRAFT Normative Specification (with planned new features).

      1. Thanks Yong, just an FYI that link does not appear to work or at least not for me.

        1. Hi Monica Harry, the link works for me. Could you check your login since this is the WIP for internal users?

          1. Strange, still says page not found?

  5. Peter G. WilliamsI was amending the CT guided when I realised this was the template on this page to use instead...

    1. Yes no problem.  I updated QI-857 to say I'll re-run that on Thurs 16 Dec.
