How to create a new External reference set. 

Prerequisite steps: Log in to Reference Set Tool 2.0; View the Project Page.

  1. On the Projects page, choose an Organization, Edition, and Project from the dropdown lists in the header. 


  1. Press the Create New Reference Set button, which will open the Create New Reference Set modal. 

  1. Choose the External radial button from the reference set type choices. 
  2. Choose the Module ID.
  3. Press the Next button.

  1. Enter a Name for the reference set in the field that opens. 
  2. Enter an External URL (must start with https:// and be a valid URL). 
  3. Press the Next button. The modal will expand to allow the remaining parameters to be input. 

Enter a Narrative explaining the reference set’s purpose (optional). 

Add metadata Tag(s) to categorize the reference set for browsing and searching (optional). 

Select the Private checkbox to set the availability of the reference set to private (optional). 

Select the Publishing: Either Within Edition to create a reference set within the existing edition OR  Local Set checkbox to create a reference set that will never be published (optional). 

Press the Create New Reference Set Button. 

NOTE:  The following characters are not permitted in a reference set name: 

  • Pipe character “|” 
  • Tab 
  • Double space 
  • Carriage Return
