SNOMED International is committed to supporting the adoption of SNOMED CT

on the rise internationally, SNOMED International has responded to requests for implementation support with the creation of the

in national, regional and local implementations.

The SNOMED CT User Support Reference Group (USRG) is a community group established by SNOMED International to explore SNOMED CT implementation topics. This user group is designed to support

  • The
purpose of the Group is three-fold: To identify
  • consideration of implementation issues and
discuss resolutions
  • To enable discussion on implementation best practices and user perspectives about SNOMED CT implementation.

  • To provide a channel for a more proactive and responsive support.

  • Geared at SNOMED CT Implementation course graduates, Member country representatives, advanced end users, and vendors, the User Support Reference Group will collect and better understand user’s implementation experiences with the goal of developing potential solutions.

    Scheduled to meet on a quarterly basis, the agenda of the reference group will be topic based in nature and place emphasis on user presentations. The group’s scope will include implementation use cases and techniques, release updates, and other topics such as maintenance, natural language processing, and data analytics, etc. The SNOMED International Education Team will provide education guidance to the group as requested.

    Next Meeting

    The first USRG meeting will be held on February 28th at 11:00 UTC.

    The "Topic of the Day" for this meeting will be "Recommendations for Meaningful and Useful Subset Development - Based on Practical Experiences"

    The session will be chaired by Liara Tutina  and Anne Randorff Højen, and the presentation will be held by Kirstine Rosenbeck Gøeg from Aalborg University, Denmark.

    Activities

    The SNOMED CT User Support Reference Group incorporates a number of activities, including

    1. The Implementation Web Series - A collection of quarterly webinars, which focus on SNOMED CT implementation topics important to our user community.
    2. The Drug Extension User Support Group (DEUSG) - A community driven group providing support to implementers of SNOMED CT drug extensions. 
    3. The Mapping Tool User Group (MTUG) - A user group formed to help clarify and prioritise requirements for a tool for mapping from other code systems to SNOMED CT.

    Other activities and subgroups will be formed as required. To make a suggestion, please contact the Implementation Support Team at implementation@snomed.org
