Blog from October, 2019

Dear all,

The Production release of the October 2019 SNOMED CT® Spanish Edition is now available to everyone from the MLDS distribution site.  This release contains the Spanish language version of the July 2019 SNOMED CT® International Edition.

All files distributed for the October 2019 SNOMED CT® Spanish Edition are available from the “October 2019 v1.0” version in the “SNOMED CT Spanish package - Edición en Español” project, which can be found on the “SNOMED Releases” page in MLDS, accessed here:

          https://mlds.ihtsdotools.org/#/ihtsdoReleases

The SNOMED CT® Spanish Edition Production release is distributed as a single zipped file archive:

  • SnomedCT_SpanishRelease-es_PRODUCTION_20191031T120000Z.zip

The Release Notes and Starter Guide have been separated from the Spanish Edition package, and can be viewed online on SNOMED International’s Release Management Confluence website:

The Release Notes have also been published as a .pdf file alongside the release package, in the same MLDS repository.

The Release Packaging format has been updated to bring it in line with the SNOMED CT International Edition standards, so there may be changes to both file naming conventions and the package contents themselves.  Please see the Readme file for details of any new naming conventions and file structures, and the Release Notes for further details.

If you have any questions about the October 2019 SNOMED CT® Spanish Edition Production release, or have difficulties downloading the files, please contact SNOMED International at support@snomed.org with “October 2019 Spanish Edition Production release” in the subject line.

Dear all,

The Production release of the July 2019 SNOMED CT® General Practitioner/Family Practitioner (GP/FP) Reference Sets package is now available, from the MLDS distribution site.

This package may be distributed to Affiliate Licensees and third parties at any time, within the relevant licensing restrictions.  The Production release of the SNOMED CT® General Practitioner/Family Practitioner (GP/FP) Reference Sets package is dependent upon, and should therefore be consumed in conjunction with the July 2019 SNOMED CT® International Edition.

All files distributed are available from the  “July 2019 v1.0” version in the “SNOMED CT GP/FP Refset package - SNOMED International” project, which can be found on the “SNOMED Releases” page in MLDS, accessed here:

https://mlds.ihtsdotools.org/#/ihtsdoReleases

The SNOMED CT® GP/FP Reference Sets package contains SNOMED CT files in Release Format 2 (RF2) only, distributed in a zipped file archive:

  • SnomedCT_GPFP_PRODUCTION_20191030T120000Z.zip

The Release Notes have been separated from the release package, and so can be downloaded as a distinct pdf file from the same MLDS release version:

  • doc_SnomedCT-GPFP-Production-ReleaseNotes_Current-en-US_INT_20190731.pdf

The Release Notes can also be accessed online from the following page:

Those Members using MLDS as their distribution site will find that their affiliates have access to the new release automatically.

Please note:  SNOMED International have undertaken a review of a number of the derivative products over the past two years (including the GP/FP refset and the map to ICPC-2), in order to gather updated requirements and evidence of usage. This has included reaching out to Members, clinical groups, other stakeholders as well as those who have downloaded either the GP/FP refset or the map to ICPC-2, and we were unable to find anyone who is using the SNOMED CT to ICPC-2 map.  In addition, in discussions with WONCA, they have confirmed that ICPC-2 is no longer being maintained by them as they are now focusing on producing and releasing ICPC-3.  They see no use case for maintaining the current mapping and recommended that the January 2019 release should be the last one containing ICPC-2 updates.

On the basis of these discussions and investigations, a decision was taken jointly with Wonca to deprecate the map.  SNOMED International have therefore inactivated all ICPC-2 map records in the current release package, ceased publishing the ICPC-2 release notes, and removed references to ICPC-2 in package naming conventions.

If you have any questions about the July 2019 SNOMED CT® GP/FP Reference Sets package, or have difficulties downloading the files from the distribution site, please contact SNOMED International at support@snomed.org with “July 2019 SNOMED CT® GP/FP Reference Sets package release question” in the subject line.

Kind regards,

Dear Members,

The October 2019 SNOMED CT® Alternative Stated Relationship file DEMONSTRATION release is now available to SNOMED International Members, from the MLDS distribution site.

This DEMONSTRATION release provides Members with the opportunity to see the Stated Relationship records as calculated in relation to the January 2019 International Edition, as if the OWL Axiom migration had never happened.  It therefore offers up an alternative view to either that of the July 2019 International Edition release, or from that of the February 2019 Complete OWL file Demonstration release package.  It is NOT a continuation of either the Production International release, or the previous Complete OWL file demonstration releases.  The purpose is solely to provide a view to the community which isolates modelling changes that could impact their products and systems.  For example, assisting in the identification of extension content that was modelled in alignment with now improved/deprecated modelling patterns and editorial policies.

The DEMONSTRATION release package is distributed for evaluation purposes only. It must not be used in production clinical systems or in clinical settings, or distributed to Affiliate Licensees or any third parties at this time.

All files distributed to SNOMED International Members for the October 2019 DEMONSTRATION Release are available from the “October 2019 v0.1 *DEMONSTRATION ONLY*” version in the “Offline & Alpha/Beta versions” section of the “SNOMED CT International Edition” project, which can be found on the “SNOMED Releases” page in MLDS, accessed here (please ensure that you login to MLDS first):

          https://mlds.ihtsdotools.org/#/ihtsdoReleases

The SNOMED CT DEMONSTRATION release contains SNOMED CT Stated Relationship files in Release Format 2 (RF2) only, distributed in a zipped file archive (the Release Notes are located separately in the same repository as normal):

  • xSnomedCT_InternationalRF2_AlternativeStatedRelationshipDEMONSTRATION_20190731T120000Z.zip
