During the Nursing CRG on 9th November some discussion was had regarding a small number of concepts that were present in the Nursing Activities reference set that are not part of the ICNP reference set. This list of concepts has been checked against the 2019 ICNP - 20210731 SNOMED CT Equivalence Table and none of the concepts are present in the table, so it is correct that they are not in the ICNP reference set.
I have looked at some of these concepts to get an idea of why they are not present in the ICNP reference set. In some instances the ICNP term now has a different SNOMED CT concept as an equivalence, in others the ICNP term has no current SNOMED CT equivalence.
The ICNP - SNOMED work was done in two main stages. The first section was back in 2015-2016 and from that the original Nursing Health Issues and Nursing Activities reference sets would have been developed. Those reference sets were maintained and at times due to inactivation of content there would have been minor changes to the reference sets. A couple of the concepts from the list would have come from this maintenance work. The maintenance work did not include updating the original equivalence table. There was a review of that equivalence table as part of this current round of work and that also did result in some changes.
