4.1 There was no specific feedback on the release notes.

4.2 A workgroup will meet to draft the newsletter and journal article. Suggested for content is: What is a reference set and how is it constructed? Why are they useful for the profession? Specifically for the Journal article, inclusion of how the US Value Set Authority Center (VSAC) value sets may relate to the reference set should be included.

SNOMED Changes

05.1 Inactivation of content containing patient

05.2 SNOMED briefing note-inactivation of role groupers in Substance and Medicinal Product hierarchies (feedback due Dec 15, 2023)

05.3 Concepts defined using substance role grouper

05.4 Role grouper concepts

D. Pertel

E. Wooler

5.1 Concepts and their replacements were shared. These replacements seem reasonable.

5.2-5.4 SNOMED is inactivating substance groupers and requesting comments by December 15. The group agrees that concepts, such as, 438431000124107 |Vitamin supplement (substance)| and 435601000124107 |Vitamin and mineral supplement therapy (regime/therapy)| are role groupers.

Vitamin and mineral concepts such as 438521000124108 |Vitamin B6 supplement (substance)| and 438581000124107 |Calcium supplement (substance)| are also described as role groupers, however, they do not have any children. Therefore, is it necessary to inactivate the specific vitamin and mineral substance concepts? Also, has a, for example, Product containing X vitamin and/or X vitamin derivative been considered as an alternate approach for defining concepts?
