The Netherlands | 2020-01-08 | We use some of the concepts in this hierarchy in our nursing problem reference list and value sets. So the (community) nurses can register this content in their systems. For example whether the housing is unsatisfactory, and what obstacles/iissues there are in and around the house like elevators.

2020-01-08 | There is ample evidence of use for these concepts in value sets from VSAC (including in the CORE problem list), which is not surprising, since many of them account for social determinants of health. These value sets are developed by several organizations, including HL7. Here is the detail of the codes, together with the steward of the value set. Inadequate Home Environment – Steward: The Joint Commission Problem – Steward: HL7 Nursing Problem List Subset – Steward: Nursing Informatics Group Steward Procedure – Steward: HL7 Residence and Accommodation Type – Steward: MD Partners SNOMED CT CORE Problem List – Steward: NLM Social History Type – Steward: HL7 Social Indications – Steward: The Joint Commission Social Reasons S – Steward: Lantana
Australia | 30/1/2020 | Sorry Cathy, I just realised I hadn't posted my feedback on this one. We've nothing in our national spefications, but I suspected HL7 as confirmed by US response above (I had a look through FHIR specs and couldn't find anything, though they might have some). Only implementations we're aware of are at least one hospital, that might use these in "alerts". E.g. "Housing structurally unsound" as a warning for home visits. We don't hany visibility on their use though.
Canada | 2020-01-30 | We have received requests for change recently on environments related to housing, but nothing on housing from the finding hierarchy.
