Purpose of the Project Group

To create a map from SNOMED CT to ICD-10-PCS

Scope of the project

All SNOMED CT procedure concepts that are within the realm of meaning of ICD-10-PCS are considered within scope for mapping. Priority is given to medical and surgical procedures which make up the bulk of ICD-10-PCS codes.

Deliverables 

The group has been exploring automated methods of linking the two terminologies, including lexical matching and alignment of the ICD-10-PCS axes and SNOMED CT concept definitions.

The group has made a request to IHTSDO for mapping tools which are necessary to create editor-curated mappings. Future deliverables will depend on whether such tools are available.
