The Cancer Synoptic Reporting Working Group followed a template-based, subject matter expert driven process to develop the content produced in this project.  Content developed is based on the content represented in published reporting protocols using the Observable entity concept model.  The overall approach and assumptions are described in the following pages.

This chapter presents the content within SNOMED CT that may be used to support the described use cases. This may include:

  • A presentation of the specific hierarchies, subherarchies, or queries (ecl's,with details in appendix) that are relevant for the scope of this project. 
  • A summary of editorial approach taken in the modeling of this content, which may support the clinicians understanding of the concepts. 
  • An introduction to the concept model applicable for the concepts of interest - especially if the concept model is central for the solution proposed in this guide. Detailed information about the concept model should be documented in an appendix and links to the source Editorial Guide should be provided.
  • A description of relevant terming guidelines.

For all of the above, examples should be included. 

Please note that the title of this section may be updated to be more descriptive in relation to the scope of this project (e.g. "Allergy Content in SNOMED CT", or "Epilepsy Content in SNOMED CT" .
