Purpose of the Project Group

To create a map from SNOMED CT to ICD-10-PCSassess the extent to which various procedure terminology models can capture the essential meaning of medical procedures

Scope of the project

All SNOMED CT procedure concepts that are within the realm of meaning of , ICD-10-PCS are considered within scope for mapping. Priority is given to medical and surgical procedures which make up the bulk of ICD-10-PCS codes.

Deliverables 

The group has been exploring automated methods of linking the two terminologies, including lexical matching and alignment of the ICD-10-PCS axes and SNOMED CT concept definitions.

, ICHI, and ICD-9-CM may fall within scope for comparison. 

Deliverables 

TBDThe group has made a request to IHTSDO for mapping tools which are necessary to create editor-curated mappings. Future deliverables will depend on whether such tools are available.
