  1. Interesting remark from Jane Millar at our meeting last tuesday: people who are working on similar projects concerning nursing terminology in Snomed should find each other and combine forces if collaboration is possible. Is there a possibility that the local NRC's are more aware of ongoing projects / demanded projects in their respective countries? Would involving the NRC's be interesting? Perhaps a strict referral to this Clinical Reference Group would suffice.

I'm working on a national Reference Set for nursing documentation in Belgium. It's a one-year project. In this Refset, we try to cover all areas of nursing care for Belgium: home care, hospital care, elder care, psychiatric care, obstetrics, intensive care,... Currently i'm merging the mappings of the Clinical Care Classification and the ICNP to obtain a 'rich' set of Snomed CT concepts. Further, I'm testing the current concepts for practical relevance and completeness with HCW'ers across different care settings. When the Refset is completed, I'll translate to the dutch language.

    Kind regards,

    Jerno Thys

    1. Hi Jerno,

That sounds like a good approach, we (in the Netherlands) did something similar to that. Consider using the Dutch translations of SNOMED as first concept translation when you are ready to translate. We've translated the most of SNOMED. Happy to talk with you about the road to our nursing refsets and the issues we encounter.

      Regards, Elze (NRC NL)

  2. Dag Elze,

Thanks for your quick response! I will definitely look into those when translating. A lot of flemish-nl translations are already available in the Belgian edition of Snomed CT. I will check the Dutch NL translations for reference, thank you!
